The Academy of the Holy Cross

The Academy of the Holy Cross, sponsored by the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Cross, has been in continuous operation in the Archdiocese of Washington since 1868 and has been at its present location since 1956. Holy Cross, a private Catholic college-preparatory school, is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools and the Maryland State Department of Education.

An Environment of Scholarship

The Academy of the Holy Cross, a private, Catholic high school for young women, cherishes tradition, celebrates the moment and is alive with vision for the future. As an educational community, individuals learn from each other and challenge one another to reach out beyond personal experiences. Curricular and co-curricular programs are designed to develop both the mind and heart of each student as she appreciates her personal gifts and recognizes her mission to make God’s love present.

Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow

Holy Cross blends a rich tradition with a contemporary outlook. Sponsored by the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Cross and in continuous operation in the Archdiocese of Washington since 1868, AHC has been at its present location since 1956. Recent renovations to the classrooms, chapel, computer lab and library keep the learning environment current. In the fall of 2003, the Academy inaugurated its Arts and Sciences wing and Theatre which nearly doubled the size of the school.
