Prerequisite:
Recommendation
from an AHC Counselor or Teacher
Peer mentors
provide same-age and cross-age peer academic tutoring and social support to
students enrolled in the Inclusion Program (IP) at the Academy of the Holy
Cross (AHC).
Peer Mentors are
encouraged to make a one-year commitment to this program.
Peer mentors
assist students with a myriad of skills, including writing, study skills,
time management, stress management, computer skills, assignment/content
modification (certificate students), extracurricular participation, project
planning, and independent living skills.
Mentors participate in a 20 hour May
training class; are required to attend continuing education meetings twice
per month during the academic year; and, write a paper at the end of each
semester. (1 credit)
