ALUMNAE COUNCIL

Dear Alumna, 

Please join us!  In answer to the renewed alumnae interest and participation in Holy Cross activities, we are forming an 18-member Alumnae Council.  The Council will be composed of three representatives from each decade, beginning with the fifties.  The Council’s primary goals are to foster increased alumnae interest, participation and connectedness to support the Alumnae Office in coordinating events and activities and to keep it up-to-date regarding alumnae contact information.  We need you to take part!

Each Council Member will chair or co-chair an event or program with the help of a committee composed of Alumnae Council Volunteers.  Volunteers are needed to make phone calls, report data, encourage attendance and help at events, solicit donations (i.e. for auction), help with office work, etc.  We want you to take part.  See a more complete list of associated tasks on attached Participation Form.

Our current Alumnae Board, headed by Carol Gonzalez ’70 and Kathy Sherman Hutson ’73, has nurtured the surge in alumnae interest during the past two years. The Academy has blossomed!  Alumnae want to be connected to the Holy Cross Community.  Carol and Kathy are devoted, energetic, tireless and…overwhelmed!  We have realized that in order to maintain this flowing and vital alumnae energy, we need a broader and more clearly defined structure and a greater alumnae participation.  Enter the Alumnae Council!  Will you take part?

The current alumnae-related events and activities are listed below: 

The Council will name a President and Vice-President, who will be the chief liaison contacts with the AHC Alumnae Office.  At its inception, half of the members will agree to serve for two years, and half will serve for three, thereby guaranteeing a staggered future turnover which will encourage continuity of mission and effectiveness.  Full Council meetings will be held every six months, and meetings with officers and the Alumnae Relations Director will be held as needed.  Alumnae Council Volunteers will be in contact primarily with their Committee Chairs and participate for as long as they like.

Holy Cross needs you to take part!

We are also eagerly researching programs for graduating seniors to emphasize the importance, benefits, and responsibilities of being a Holy Cross Alumna.  This will reinforce their connection and foster their active future participation in the Holy Cross community.  The girls need you!

In the future we also hope to design age-specific events based on the interests of different alumnae age groups.  Your classmates need you!

There is only one Holy Cross, and this unique school, which has made of you women of courage, compassion, and scholarship, belongs to you, your daughters, granddaughters and countless future generations of fortunate girls.  We need you to take part!  Use this opportunity to connect and reengage with the Holy Cross Community.  We are looking for Alumnae Council Members to chair or co-chair committees, and also for Alumnae Council Volunteers who will work on the various committees.
