Building for the Future - The Academy Nearly Doubles Learning Space

In 2003, The Academy of the Holy Cross opened its doors to include a new wing adding 52,000 square feet of space to the school building. The Arts and Sciences wing includes a 400-seat Theatre with construction caliber and design that are comparable to professional theaters of its size in the Washington metropolitan area.

Fully equipped with an 18-line rigging system and comprehensive acoustical treatment, the Theatre showcases the Academy's Performing Arts Department and offers students hands-on experience with every element of a live performance.  The new learning spaces are equipped with the latest technological amenities and safety devices to give Holy Cross students a first rate education.

The theme of the wing’s dedication on September 11, 2004 was from 1st Peter, “We are living stones precious in God’s eyes, built upon Christ the cornerstone” (1 Peter 2:4-6).
