The Academy of the Holy Cross is a women’s college preparatory high school of 500 students in grades 9 through 12 with 121 students in the Class of 2016.
Students come primarily from Montgomery County (MD) though we do have students from our surrounding counties as well as the District of Columbia and Northern Virginia. Our student body is diverse with approximately 32% of our students identifying themselves as being students of color.
The Academy is committed to providing for individual needs and differences in learning styles. Faculty involvement with students extends beyond the classroom into co-curricular activities. Our school year is divided into two semesters and classes are taught on a modified block schedule. Semester exams are worth 20% of the final semester grade and are given prior to Christmas break and at the end of the school year. Our student/faculty ratio is 10:1 and the average class size is 17.
The first International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme candidates graduated in June 2012.
The Academy of the Holy Cross does not rank but does provide a GPA distribution for our current senior class; please download our complete school profile for specific information.
