Information literacy is a critical skill in today's world, and The Academy of the Holy Cross recognizes the role technology plays in our students' education. As new and emerging technologies are making vast amounts of information available, there is a need for creating open learning environments that can engage learners in active, constructivist, intentional, and cooperative learning.
To cultivate and support effective users of ideas and information, the library and technology departments collaborate with students and staff in an inquiry-based environment to provide resources, strategies, and tools so students will have the necessary skills and knowledge in order to locate, evaluate, and integrate information.
Technology should be a transparent backbone in the school. It must be easily accessible as well as up to date. Cutting edge technology offers the opportunity for students and teachers to be creative and innovative while being intellectually challenged. Therefore, the Academy believes integration of technology into our existing curriculum is essential.
