Sixty-three class of 2018 seniors got a head start on the college application process during the annual Application Academy seminar August 8-10 led by the Academy’s College Counseling office. During the seminar, the girls completed the Common Application, created a college resume, received feedback on their personal statements, and took mock interviews with college admission counselors from 17 colleges (Gettysburg, South Carolina, RPI, Drexel, Providence College, Northeastern, Ohio Wesleyan, Georgia, Pitt, University of Maryland, St. John's University, Stonehill College, High Point University, Colgate University, Loyola University Maryland, and American University).
Application Academy launches the college application season. The College Counseling office organizes 150 visits to the Academy by college representatives along with meeting nights with the junior and senior class families and a College Day for the entire school held in the second semester. Each student and her parents/guardians meets directly with one of the College Counselors in the spring of their junior year and throughout the application process. They counselors also visit dozens of college campuses around the globe every year and maintain relationships with college admissions representatives.
While it meant giving up a few of the final days of summer vacation, the participants felt a sense of relief at the end of the seminar. They are now further along in the application process and ready to make their college choices as the college application season gets underway.
