To be a successful candidate for the Step Team, the student must express an interest in African dance, the   ability to make beats/music with their hands and feet, good coordination, be willing to serve as a team captain (if needed), believe in the necessity of a serious work ethic, and maintain academic eligibility.

The Academy of the Holy Cross Step Team provides the school community with additional dance enrichment opportunities and the local community with professional quality entertainment/community service projects.

In order to maintain active membership status in the Step Team, the student must meet the following requirements:

            1           Pay $40 annual uniform fee

2           Attend the mandatory rehearsals (see schedule below)

            3           Participate in two all school assemblies per year

            4           Attend all competitive events, public performances, and concerts

Membership is attained through formal auditions and consistent participation in performing arts events. If a student misses more than two of the mandatory rehearsals FOR ANY REASON, then the student will no longer be considered an active member of the Step Team and will be replaced.

Being an active member of the Step Team automatically makes you eligible for many opportunities that are not available to other students, such as the following:

            1           Many opportunities to perform as an elite team

2           Exposure to many African dance forms

            3           Award nominations

            4           Special Artist & Guest Workshops
