TRI-M MUSIC

Tri-M (Modern Music Masters)
Music Honor Society

 

 

Mission Statement:

The Academy of the Holy Cross Tri-M Music Honor Society provides students with service opportunities who have a love for music, excel academically, and desire to be leaders in the performing arts community at Holy Cross.

                                      

Tri-M Projects:

  • Year Long – Must usher for all performing arts events
  • December – Performance in winter music concert
  • February – Valentines for children’s hospital
  • May – Performance in spring music concert
  • May – Performing Arts Awards Show

 

To Become a Member:

In order to become an active member of the Tri-M Music Honor Society, the student must be enrolled in a music ensemble and/or have taken a music class for at least one semester during her four years at Holy Cross. She must also have a minimum of a B average in music, and a C average in other academic subjects. Also, the student must demonstrate leadership, service, and character in her activities. In addition, the student must accumulate the minimum number of hours required in each of the following areas:

 

            Music Concert Tech Crew ………..……  10 hours

            Music Concert Costume Crew ………… 10 hours

            Music Concert Performance ….……..… 10 hours

PA Ushering ………..……………….....   10 hours

PA Admin Work …………………….…    10 hours

Community Service ……………………    10 hours

                                                           TOTAL: 60 hours

 

Each student is required to maintain a log of the time she worked. At the end of each workday, the student should report to the club moderator to sign off on the student’s time log. If more than 4 months pass with out a signature from the club moderator, the student’s hours will not count towards Tri – M Music Honor Society credit. Once the student has earned her 60 hours, the student should then fill out the application form, attach a copy of the production programs where she earned the hours, and request an interview date from the club moderator. If done efficiently, the student should be able to earn enough points in one year to gain membership status.

 

Induction of New Members:

New members will be inducted once every school year. This induction is during the spring semester in conjunction with the awards program.

 

   

Maintaining Membership status:

To maintain active membership status, the student must:

  1. Serve as a positive role model to others throughout the school year
  2. Attend all mandatory meetings
  3. Pay annual membership fee of $15
  4. Successfully complete all Tri-M Music Honor Society service hours

 

If the student fails to meet all of these criteria, she will go on probation for one semester. If at the end of the probationary period the student has not significantly improved in her standing, membership will be revoked. All membership fees are nonrefundable.

 

 

TRI - M MUSIC HONOR SOCIETY MANDATORY MEETINGS   
All TRI-M meetings are held in Room 250 from 3:15-4:00pm, excluding the May 19th meeting.
