The Academy celebrates the Feast of the Holy Cross (September 14) by honoring the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Cross at a special assembly in the morning. In the afternoon, Tartans participate in field-day type game competitions between advisories. The day culminates in the annual Sister Grace Race around the circle driveway.
This two-hand touch football game takes place between the Juniors and Seniors in the fall at Homecoming time. Seniors purchase special jerseys. The school gathers to watch the game with Freshman and Sophomore Little Sisters cheering for their Junior and Senior Big Sisters.
All incoming Freshman receive a Big Sister, whom they meet at a spring picnic. Big Sisters help acclimate their Little Sisters to Holy Cross. During the year there are times when Little Sisters give their Big Sisters treats (and vice versa).
Held at the beginning of December, the Senior Tea is a formal event for the senior class and their mothers/guardians/special guests. The event is hosted by the seniors' "Little Sisters" in the sophomore class and organized by the Home and School Association.
Dads/guardians/special friends or relatives and daughters dance the night away at a special event just for them. Fathers/guardians/special friends of Seniors traditionally wear tuxedos to escort their daughter.
Usually held the last week of classes, Seniors and Faculty members wear caps and gowns to the final assembly of the school year. The Senior Class President and Student Council President give their final speeches.
