On the evening of May 9, community members from the Academy of the Holy Cross gathered to honor the remarkable achievements of its alumnae and athletic community during the 2025 Distinguished Alumnae Awards and Athletic Hall of Fame Induction. The event began with a warm and lively reception in the Barbara Carey Hayes Theatre Lobby, followed by an inspiring ceremony that recognized those who exemplify the spirit and mission of Holy Cross.
Distinguished Alumnae Awards
The Distinguished Alumnae Awards are the highest honors bestowed upon Holy Cross graduates. These awards celebrate women who embody courage, compassion, and scholarship—who not only live out the Academy’s mission in their daily lives, but also rise as leaders through professional and personal excellence.
This year’s honorees include:
- Mary-Rose Szoka de Valladares ’70
- Patricia (Patty) Deane Petruzzelli ’79
- Suzanne Penna ’94
- Elizabeth Bray Wagner ’58
- Ricki Fairley ’74
Each of these women has distinguished herself through a commitment to service, leadership, and faith, representing the very best of Holy Cross and setting an example for future generations of alumnae.
Athletic Hall of Fame Induction
Established in 2012, the Athletic Hall of Fame honors Tartans who have left a lasting legacy on Holy Cross athletics through their talent, dedication, and sportsmanship. These individuals have helped shape the proud tradition of our athletic program and continue to inspire current and future student-athletes.
We are proud to induct the following into the 2025 Athletic Hall of Fame:
- Beth O’Boyle ’94 – Basketball
- Jilian Dunston ’14 – Basketball
- Jaclyn Branthover ’15 – Lacrosse
- Coach Greg Sweet (posthumous) – Cross Country
These honorees exemplify excellence both on and off the field, demonstrating the power of perseverance, teamwork, and Tartan pride.
