WASHINGTON, D.C. – A spirit of pride, joy, and reflection filled the magnificent Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception as The Academy of the Holy Cross celebrated the commencement of the Class of 2025 on June 2. The grand setting underscored the significance of this milestone for students, families, faculty, and the entire school community.
This year’s Commencement Speaker was Sister Sharlet Wagner, CSC. Among the many highlights of the ceremony were the speeches delivered by Salutatorian Virginia Sejismundo ’25 and Valedictorian Chloe Kwok ’25. Their reflections honored the collective journey of the Class of 2025 and celebrated the friendships and growth that marked their time at Holy Cross.
Several graduates were honored with distinguished awards that reflect the school’s mission and values:
- The Cardinal Award was presented to Kathryn Worch ’25, recognizing her embodiment of Catholic values, service to others, and dedication to the common good.
- The Sister Grace Award, honoring the legacy of joyful service of Sister Grace Shonk, was awarded to Nannapat "Tammy" Tippayarat ’25, a faith-filled student who radiates peace and promotes the Academy’s mission.
- The Saint André Bessette Citizenship Award went to Meredith Nelson ’25 for her outstanding character, leadership, and commitment to the well-being of the school community.
- The Spes Unica Award, given for integrity, service, and perseverance, was presented to Alexis Braswell ’25 and Lauren Tyler ’25, both of whom exemplify a life rooted in compassion and hope.
- The Sisters of the Holy Cross Award was awarded to Gabrielle Hill ’25, recognizing her academic excellence, respect for others, and deep sense of Christian responsibility.
The Academy of the Holy Cross proudly celebrates the Class of 2025—a group of young women ready to step forward as leaders, scholars, and agents of change. Their legacy will continue to inspire future generations of Tartans.
