New Soccer Coach Joins Holy Cross Athletics

The Academy of the Holy Cross has selected Michael Spencer to lead its soccer team as its newest head coach.

Joining The Academy at the onset of the 2023-2024 school year from recent posts as Garrison Forest School Head Soccer Coach and Assistant Lacrosse Coach, as well as Virginia Lacrosse Club Assistant Coach, the Hyattsville, Md., native arrives with more than 15 years of coaching experience.  In that time, from 2018 to 2022, he was also Head Coach for Episcopal High School Junior Varsity Soccer Team and currently serves as Head Coach for M&D Lacrosse Club's 2031 Red Team in Baltimore, Md.

Considering himself a lifetime student of soccer, Spencer played at the recreational and travel levels in middle and high school, and at the collegiate level, while pursuing a bachelor's degree in Political Science at Franklin University Switzerland in Lugano, Switzerland.

"I am a true believer in the power of sports to teach life lessons and transform lives," said Spencer.  "I'm excited to begin this opportunity at Holy Cross and looks forward to becoming a long-term fixture in the school's community."

During the course of his career, Spencer's far-reaching passion and experience for coaching has extended to football and wrestling as well.  He also holds multiple coaching certifications in lacrosse--both women's and men's.

Beyond this, Spencer is the owner of lacrosse stick-stringing business KOTAPR Stringing with a wealth of professional experience that has included positions with West Potomac High School in Alexandria, Va., as well as with Washington, D.C.-based US-ASEAN Business Council and Federal Management Systems.
