The Academy of the Holy Cross Athletics has announced a transition in leadership with the appointment of Caitlin Smith as the new Head Varsity Lacrosse Coach for the Tartans.

A familiar face and native of Potomac, MD, Smith spent the 2025 season as Varsity Assistant Coach at the Academy of the Holy Cross. Along with a strong pedigree of lacrosse knowledge and experience, Smith brings an incredible mix of energy and grace in her desire to lead student-athletes.

Smith is a graduate of The Bullis School in Potomac, MD, where she played lacrosse and won Bullis Female Athlete of the Year. She went on to play at Division I Jacksonville University, where she was named to the Atlantic Sun Conference All-Freshman team in 2015. Smith transferred to the University of Delaware, where she continued to excel as a midfielder and draw specialist for the lacrosse team while completing her undergraduate degree.

Smith has extensive experience within the local lacrosse landscape, having previously served as an Assistant Lacrosse Coach and Assistant Athletic Director at The Bullis School. She also served as a Head Coach for Rebels Lacrosse Club and MC Elite Lacrosse Club, in addition to MD Select and DC Metro Lacrosse.
