Tartanfest Inaugurates a New Holy Cross Tradition

Image

On Saturday, September 15, over 200 parents/guardians, alumnae, and faculty/staff members gathered for our final150th anniversary celebration. All enjoyed live music by The Chance Club, great food from Urban BBQ, and the signature drinks by the six vendors. While we had to move the event indoors due to the wet weather, everyone had a great evening. It was so much fun we'll do it again next year—keep an eye out for details!

The Academy Celebrates Holy Cross Day

Four Sisters of the Holy Cross were welcomed at our Holy Cross Day Mass on Friday, September 14—the Church's Feast of the Exultation of the Cross. Sister Adria Connors is a former faculty member and current member of the Board of Trustees, Sister Mary Tiernan currently works at Holy Cross Hospital, Sister Kathy Johnson is a former faculty member and Campus Minister, and Sister Ruth Marie Nickerson '61 is a Holy Cross alumna and former member of the Board of Trustees. Our Holy Cross Day games took place on Friday, September 21. Following a pizza lunch, Ridgway Field was full of purple-and-white-clad LOTAs. Advisories competed against each other to earn points for the Purple team (Seniors/Sophomores) and the White team (Juniors/Freshmen). The day culminated in the traditional Sister Grace Race.

What It Means to be a Leader

Liz Hogan recently published a blog article titled "What It Means to be a Leader" about Bridget Looney '04, who was a fellow classmate and teammate of Liz's at Syracuse University. "Her influence not only pushed me to be a better player, but showed me what it meant to be a true leader. Be an example, never settle and put everything on the line…. Those lessons extended well beyond my playing days at Syracuse and, with the advent of social media and platforms like this, I've found ways to pass her influence on to others."
