Advanced Placement

The Academy of the Holy Cross offers a wide variety of Advanced Placement (AP) courses. AP courses are those for which a College Board Advanced Placement examination exists; the curriculum for these courses follows guidelines established by the College Board and is externally approved each year in which a given course is offered. A qualifying score on an AP exam may give a student credit or advanced standing in that subject in college.

Since each girl's academic schedule at the Academy is as unique as the girl herself, all have the opportunity to qualify to take an AP course. However, because of the rigor of an AP course there are prerequisites that must be met. During the registration period in the beginning of second semester, all students are encouraged to discuss with their teachers and counselors the best options for them.

Visit the College Board's AP Student website here.

Exam Information for May 2018

Current AP students should register for their exams by downloading and returning the completed registration form.

There is a $94 fee for each exam. A $10 fee will be assessed for late registration.

Payment can be made by check (payable to Academy of the Holy Cross) or by credit card (to do so, please contact Helene Hering in the Business Office, (301) 929-6474). If payment is made by credit card, please return the completed registration form to Christopher Mathews in room 100.
