Service Summit Brings Schools Together to Share Social Justice Objectives

The Academy of the Holy Cross joined service-learning coordinators and students from 17 schools on February 26, 2024, for a service summit for Catholic high schools. With a theme of “Inspired by Faith, We Cultivate Courage to Care and Strength to Serve,” the summit held at Georgetown Preparatory School allowed participants to talk about service as a response to the principles of Catholic social teaching, trade best practices and share aspirations. Additionally, the students and faculty learned about service opportunities with Catholic Charities. Holy Cross Campus Minister Linda Ruszkowski and Director of Social Justice Maika Walker ’07 participated in the summit with students Francesca Antonelli ’27, Alexis Ann Braswell ’25, and Ava Jones ’26.

Alumnae Return for Career Day 2024

With great excitement, we welcomed home 19 alumnae for our 2024 Career Day on Friday, February 23. A longstanding tradition at the Academy, Career Day is a chance for our students to meet with graduates who have gone on to achieve great professional success in their fields. This year we were fortunate enough to have a wide variety of professionals come home. Having fellow Ladies of the Academy (LOTAs) return to the school and share their wisdom with our current students is a chance for the girls to not only see what professions are possible for them, but to gain a fuller understanding of what different career paths entail. Our sincerest thanks to our incredible Keynote and Guest Speakers.

Alumnae and Family Members Remembered During Annual Memorial Mass

The weather was sunny and surprisingly warm on Sunday, February 25, 2024 - perfect for guests to attend the 2024 Alumnae Memorial Mass. This annual Mass honors the memory of deceased alumnae, family of alumnae and former faculty who have passed in the previous year. Presiding the Mass, longtime friend of Holy Cross, Msgr. John Enzler was also present as a family member honoring two of his sisters who had recently passed away.

After Fr. John's insightful homily, white roses were brought forth by family members and friends of deceased alumnae and faculty as names were recited. Later in the service, the names of deceased family members and loved ones of alumnae were read. Following the Mass, a reception followed. Many attendees remarked how grateful they are that Holy Cross has continued this tradition for more than 25 years.
