Four Holy Cross Teams Participate in LLS Student of the Year Campaign

Four teams led by Holy Cross students participated in the 2021 Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) recent Students of the Year campaign. The teams worked to during the seven-week fundraising challenge to raise funds and awareness for the mission of LLS: to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma and to improve the quality of life of patients and their families.

The Holy Cross teams raised a combined total of over $126,000! There were 42 candidate teams comprised of 91 candidates and 328 team members, who collectively raised more than $3.3 million, a new national record!


  • Team ACDC: Led by Addison Bounds ’22 (with support of team member Chiara Militello ’23)
  • Team Finish the Fight: Led by Hannah Toth ’21 (with support of team members Emily Aumiller ’21 and Grace Winters ’21)
  • Team the Red Elephants: Led by Madison Akers ’22 and Tess Gardner ’22 (with support of team members Brennan Flynn ’22, Erin McLaughlin ’22, Ella Burke ’22 Caleigh Rose ’22, and Laura Marra ’22)
  • Team Tartans Tackle Cancer: Led by Sophia Skinner ’22 and Gabriella Fernandez ’22 (with support of team members Alexandra Ogilvie ’23 and Taryn O’Leary ’22)

Team The Red Elephants was awarded the Hero Award and received the 2021 Students of the Year Community Involvement Award, which is given to the team that best incorporates and inspires their community through the LLS campaign.

The students were recognized recently for their accomplishment in a Holy Cross All-School Advisory video.
