New Painting Honors Sister Grace Shonk, CSC

Holy Cross parent George Allan recently unveiled a beautiful painting he created of former faculty/staff member Sister Grace Shonk, CSC in recognition of her birthday on Saturday, August 7. George is a professional artist and photographer and gave the painting to The Academy of the Holy Cross as a special gift. In his artwork, George included the statue of Saint Joseph that is found in the Moreau Hall chapel, which is the former convent where Sister Grace lived for many years. The painting hangs in the Holy Cross main lobby.

Sister Grace served at Holy Cross from 1967 to 2016. She taught math, served as principal, assistant principal and as an administrator. She is currently enjoying her retirement at Saint Mary’s Convent in South Bend, IN. She keeps in touch with many Holy Cross alumnae, families, and faculty/staff.
