  • Head Coach

    Coach Greg Sweet will begin his fIfteenth season as head of the Cross Country program at The Academy of the Holy Cross. The Tartan Varsity and Junior Varsity teams are the 2012, 2013 and 2014 Montgomery County Private School Cross Country Champions. 

    Coach Sweet began coaching track and field as an assistant distance coach at Cathedral High School in 1979, while attending Northeastern University. Cross Country coaching followed at The Commonwealth School, while training for the Boston Marathon. Coach Sweet coached track and field and cross country for the Catholic Youth Organization in the Archdiocese of Washington from 1991 through 2007 and was active in the Maryland Area Youth Cross Country League from 1994 through 2002.  

    Coach Sweet is excited to be back and is looking forward to the 2016-2017 Fall Cross County Season!

  • Assistant Coach
    Coach Ariadne Cerritelli '09 will start her second season as assistant coach of the Cross Country team at the Academy of the Holy Cross. Coach Cerritelli ran Varsity Cross Country at AHC during the 2005-2008 fall seasons under Coach Sweet. 
    Coach Cerritelli ran for two years for Wheeling Jesuit University in Wheeling,West Virginia, on the Cross Country and Track team for the NCAA, division II. A recent graduate from the Catholic University of America (CUA), majoring in Architecture, Coach Cerritelli will is currently attending the graduate program in Architecture at CUA. Coach Cerritelli is very excited to team up with Coach Sweet for the 2016-2017 Cross Country Season.

Winter Sports Recognition

On Thursday, March 7, Holy Cross recognized athletes who played on winter sports teams. Each coach presented Most Valuable Player, Most Improved Player, and Tartan awards during the main program and gave individual recognitions in breakout gatherings. Holy Cross especially recognized Coach Kyran Kennedy, who built the Ice Hockey program at Holy Cross beginning in 2011. Athletic Director Dena Rapoport noted that 272 Holy Cross girls have played on the Ice Hockey team. In 2016 the Ice Hockey team won the MAGHL and this year the team took second place in the inaugural WCAC Ice Hockey Championship.
